Expedition To Los Nevados in Merida 3 days and 2 nights.

Los Nevados is a beautiful small town set deep in the Andes and separated from Merida by the highest mountain in Venezuela, Pico Toro (4755m), Pico Leon (4740), Pico Bolivar (5007m). Access is by foot, by horse, or by 4 x 4 wheel drive jeeps.

In 3 days you will experience 4 distinct climatic types between 1600 metres and 4200 metres meters of altitude. You will travel in jeep, following donkey trails, and trekking by foot.

You will experience the traditional way of life of the Andean people, and all this without carrying all heavy luggage, tents, etc.. This is a real mountain expedition for (almost!) all the family.

Day 1.

The tour follows a circular route, beginning with a 4 to 5 hour jeep ride on an exciting narrow road with sharp and inclining bends).

This is the road from Merida to Los Nevados via El Morro. In rainy season (July - December) the road is sometimes too difficult to pass and we have to hike the last hour or so.

In the afternoon you can enjoy a small trek getting to know the surroundings here or a chance to rest in one of the hammocks. You will spend 1 night in Posada Guamanchi Los Nevados.

Day 2.

After a heavy breakfast, you will be ready for a 4 hours ride, going through the typical vegetation of the Los Andes, from 2700 meters up to the 4200 meters. After 2 hours walking down hill, you will arrive and spend the night in an original local farmhouse.

Day 3.

After a typical local breakfast you will enjoy a 4 hours downhill hiking through the cloudy forest with the beautiful view of Merida and the mountain of Sierra La Culata.

We will pick you up by jeep in Mucunutan, and welcome you at our base after a 40 minutes ride.
